BOARD OF CONTROL FOR CRICKET IN INDIA (BCCI) and Dream11 have officially parted ways after the ‘Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025’ was passed by both Houses of Parliament on Thursday.
BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed the development, stating that the Indian cricket board “will not indulge with any such organisations” in the future.
“BCCI and Dream 11 are discontinuing their relationship after the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025, was passed. BCCI will ensure not to indulge with any such organisations ahead in future,” Saikia was quoted as saying by ANI.
According to PTI, Dream11 and My11Circle jointly contribute around Rs 1,000 crore to the BCCI through their sponsorships of both the Indian cricket team and the Indian Premier League.
Dream11 exit without penalties
Interestingly, the fantasy sports giant will incur no penalties for the early termination of its ongoing ₹358 crore ($41 million) contract, which kicked off in July 2023 and was due to run its course in March 2026.
As per reports, the agreement between Dream11 and BCCI had a clause stating that if any new government regulation made it impossible for Dream11 to operate its business, there would be no penalty for early termination of the contract. Since the new Bill has effectively shut down their real money gaming operations, Dream11 is legally protected from fines.
A BCCI official confirmed this to Indian Express, saying that Dream11 met with them in person and explained the situation. The board will now have to find a new sponsor.
