AICHI-NAGOYA Asian Games Organising Committee (AINAGOC), the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), and the Fédération Internationale de Teqball (FITEQ) have formally concluded a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) confirming Teqball as an official medal sport at the 20th Asian Games 2026.
Teqball, a sport that blends elements of football and table tennis, previously made its debut as a medal sport at the Asian Youth Games in Bahrain, showcasing strong continental participation and grassroots depth. It was also included as a medal sport at the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Thailand, underlining its growing presence across Asia.
The sport is set to feature as a medal event at the Asian Beach Games in China in April and at the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Saudi Arabia in December, further highlighting its expansion across the continent.
“Teqball’s inclusion as a medal sport in the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan is a watershed moment — not just for the sport globally, but for India’s athletic future,” said Vinit Jain, founder of Teqball Mumbai, speaking to SportzPower.
Teqball Mumbai is among India’s leading centres dedicated to developing and promoting the sport, focusing on structured training, competitive exposure, and grassroots programmes to produce high-performance athletes in Mumbai and across the country.
Jain has been actively involved in mentoring young talent, with one of his athletes representing India at the Asian Youth Games. His long-term vision is to develop elite players and qualified coaches who can help India secure its first Olympic medal in Teqball and win the country’s first gold at the World Championships.
