Thomas Cook extends Lancashire cricket partnership

MANCHESTER: England county cricket team Lancashire announced on Monday that it has renewed its sponsorship agreement for another 3-year period with one of the world’s leading travel brands, Thomas Cook. The company’s sporting arm, Thomas Cook Sport is the club’s Official Team Logistics Partner, providing it with all accommodation and logistics arrangements for domestic fixtures.

As part of the agreement, supporters will also be able to enjoy watching top level cricket across the season from the newly branded Thomas Cook Sport Stand at the award-winning Emirates Old Trafford venue, which has earlier this year secured a new five year international fixture schedule, including the Ashes in 2023 following on from six ICC Cricket World Cup fixtures and the 4th Ashes Test next year.

The hugely popular official ticket-inclusive Thomas Cook Sport Terrace will also expand as part of the new contract, with the pitch-side experience now being made available across all of Lancashire’s as well as England’s home fixtures at the venue.

Thomas Cook Sport has been part of Lancashire Cricket’s partnership programme since 2015, adding to the company’s impressive sporting associations such as Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, as well as other leading sporting events and partnerships including F1’s Mercedes AMG Petronas Motorsport.

Daniel Gidney, chief executive of Lancashire Cricket, said: “We’re delighted that Thomas Cook Sport has extended its partnership with the Club. We have worked closely with them over the last three years as we share the same core values and approach to enhancing the experience here at Emirates Old Trafford.

“They are clear market-leaders in ground logistics and sports packages and we have seen progressive year-on-year development and growth in the popular pitch-side ticket-inclusive Terrace offering at Emirates Old Trafford for our domestic and international fixtures, which they have now expanded both here at our venue, and further afield across the game.

“We are continually committed to ensuring that the Club’s sponsors and partners not only benefit from the impactful and wide-ranging commercial assets, but also provide an enhanced experience for the supporters and the wider Red Rose family, as we continue to build strong and positive relationships over an extended period of time.”

The newly formed Lancashire Cricket Foundation will also benefit from the partnership with Thomas Cook Sport becoming the official partner to the County’s boys’ and girls’ district teams.

Rob Slawson, head of Thomas Cook Sport, added: “Our relationship with Lancashire Cricket Club has gone from strength-to-strength over the last three years, so we’re delighted to become the club’s Official Team Logistics Partner and extend our relationship for a further three years.

“We are delighted that we can expand our hugely popular Thomas Cook Sport Terrace experience area. This unique fan favourite part of the ground show cases what we are all about; creating the best experiences for sports fans. As big cricket fans at Sport, getting involved in the grass roots aspect of cricket across the county with the younger age-group sides is something we’re very proud to support as well.”
