MUMBAI: Three new racetracks, facilitated to organize international level racing events, will soon come up in the country.
According to a Hans India report, the proposed locations for the tracks include Hosur, Hyderabad and a location between Mumbai and Pune.
Hans quotes president of Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI) Akbar Ibrahim as saying that depending on the grade of the circuits the authorities want, the federation will be providing the essentials. FMSCI will be sharing its plans regarding the specifications of the circuit and homologations assistance will also be provided, he added. The grade and type of infrastructure depends on the amount of investment the authority is ready to make, he said.
Currently, India has three full-fledged racing tracks and two karting tracks at locations across the country. The FMSCI president has been quoted as saying, “When you have more karting tracks and racetracks near your hometown, you will take up the sport.”
