Trio named to ICC cricket panel

DUBAI: New Zealand coach Mike Hesson was named as an ICC cricket committee member on Wednesday, replacing former Australian coach Darren Lehmann. Lehmann had resigned last month following the ball-tampering scandal in South Africa, making him ineligible to remain in the committee.

Alongside Hesson, former Australian women’s captain Belinda Clark and Scotland captain Kyle Coetzer were appointed to the committee. Clark will be the women’s cricket representative while Coetzer is the associate members representative, replacing Ireland’s dashing batsman, Kevin O’Brien.

The trio will feature in the committee for a minimum period of three years and will begin their tenure at  next week’s annual ICC meeting in Mumbai, which will take place on 28th and 29th May.

The agenda of the meeting is reportedly the Spirit of Cricket and player behaviour, World Test Championship playing conditions and the pace of play.
