MUMBAI: At the end game stage of the 2019 Indian Premier League, four teams have sealed playoff berths. Collating data collected from 56 league matches played, engagement and social media listening platform Germin8 has released the IPL 2019 social media insights report.
Report highlights:⮚ Royal Challengers Bangalore received the maximum number of mentions on social media. This was followed by Kolkata Knight Riders. Kings XI Punjab had the least number of mentions
⮚ Royal Challengers Bangalore (20%), Kolkata Knight Riders (18%) and Chennai Super Kings (17%) contributed to more than 50% of the team-specific mentions for IPL
⮚ Twitter was the most active social media platform used to talk about IPL forming 30% of the entire mentions on IPL
⮚ Kolkata Knight Riders (22%) were the most actively referenced team on Twitter followed by Royal Challengers Bangalore (17%) and Chennai Super King (16%), together forming more than 50% of the team chatter on IPL
⮚ Looking at a closer range we notice that for all teams the captains were most common mentions for the team except for Delhi Capital, where Rishabh Pant was the major player in the limelight.
⮚ Observing the gender break up based on the content we noticed that women have also contributed in fair amounts on social media for IPL this year:
o The gender break up on Twitter alone stood at 30% of women and 70 % of men
⮚ The Top Incidents picked up over the week were
o The Kolkata Knight Riders win by 34 runs and register their 100th Victory in IPL.
o Sachin Tendulkar’s clarification on allegations of conflict of interest levelled against him
o MS Dhoni has become the first Indian batsman to hit 200 sixes in the Indian Premier League (IPL)
