MUMBAI: Japanese fashion and lifestyle retail giant Uniqlo will be launching its operations in India towards the end of the year, Exchange4Media reports.
Its first store will be opened in New Delhi. It has already appointed former senior brand manager of Procter and Gamble (P&G) in China, Shantanu as its India chief marketing officer.
According to Shantanu’s LinkedIn profile, he is an IIM Calcutta alumni and has 14 years of experience in the global marketing industry, a decade of which came in P&G’s various brands such as Tide and Head and Shoulders.
Uniqlo is said to have 2000 stores in 19 countries such as UK, USA, France, China and Canada. In sports, it has famous names as its global brand ambassadors such as Japan’s No.1 tennis player Kei Nishikori and 20-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer. Reportedly, the brand paid Federer a whopping $300 million in a 10-year deal that began in July 2018.
