NEW DELHI: Siddharth Shriram, one of India’s most respected industrialists and co-chairman of leading consumer durable company Usha International, died on Monday due to COVID-19 complications.
He was 76.
It is/was due to Shriram’s patronage that Usha International supports numerous sports and related tournaments in the country like Ultimate Frisbee, ladies and amateur golf, marathons, deaf cricket, junior golf training programmes, blind sports (kabbadi, judo and powerlifting) and football.
According to Businessworld, Shriram was also the man behind the joint venture with Honda Motor Company to manufacture small engines and automobiles and was the till recently chairman of Honda Siel Cars India.
Shriram was serving as chairman of Mawana Sugars, Honda Siel Power Products and co-chairman of Usha International.
