Usha presents DGC Junior/Sub-Junior golf tournament

The 15th DGC Junior/Sub-Junior Golf Tournament 2025, presented by Usha, teed off Tuesday at the Delhi Golf Club (DGC).

Over 180 young golfers, aged between 6 and 22 years, are competing across three days, playing 18 holes each day on both the Lodhi and Peacock Courses.

Usha has partnered with the DGC for over three decades, actively supporting the development of golf across various categories — from junior to ladies’ golf — and witnessing the rise of several talented golfers through the years. Beyond golf, Usha champions a diverse array of sporting disciplines and initiatives across the country. These include its association with the Mumbai Indians, and support for sports such as Ultimate Flying Disc, Cricket for the Deaf, and athletics-based sports for the visually challenged, including kabaddi, judo, and powerlifting. Usha is also deeply committed to preserving and reviving indigenous Indian sports, including Kalaripayattu, Mallakhamb, Siat Khnam, Thang-Ta, Turai Kabaddi, Saz-Loung, Mardani Khel, Yoga, and Silambam.

The ceremonial tee-off was performed by top junior players — Kashika Misra, India’s No. 1 in IGU Category A, and Deepak Yadav, a course record-holder and newly turned professional who recently shot a 10-under at the NCR Cup.

In line with its commitment to inclusivity, the DGC waived entry fees for 30 underprivileged juniors — including 15 children of DGC caddies, 7 participants from Village Jindali (supported by The Golf Foundation), and 8 juniors from the Ultimate Foundation.

DGC lady captain Mala Bawa said, “It is truly inspiring to see such passion and perseverance among the young golfers. Usha’s unwavering support over the years has been pivotal in nurturing emerging talent and promoting inclusivity in golf. The growing participation from players of diverse backgrounds, including children of caddies, reflects our shared belief that the talent can come from anywhere, all it needs is the right platform.”
