MUMBAI: Viacom18 Media may still have some ways to go before it gets a real grip on its sports content output strategy, but that could well be because Anil Jayaraj – chief executive officer, Sports, for the Reliance Industries Ltd controlled network, is still putting in place his executive team.
The latest to be onboarded is Mallika Petkar, who has joined Viacom18 Media as senior vice president – Strategy, Sports, from Disney+ Hotstar, where she was head, SMB Growth Strategy & Inside Sales.
Petkar’s addition to executive team follows close on the heels of Viacom18 roping in Amit Kumar Sinha as vice president & head of Pricing & Revenue Strategy – Sports. Sinha was earlier with SonyLIV as head – Pricing & Revenue Strategy.
Petkar worked with Star India for more than a decade in various roles, primarily in sports and OTT domains.
Petkar said in a LinkedIn post: “After a decade at Star India/Hotstar, I have moved on to the next adventure. It’s been an incredible ride, through which I’ve been fortunate to have some of the smartest mentors and colleagues ever assembled under one roof and many dear friends.”
“A big thank you to all the colleagues, friends, and mentors for the enriching journey – you know who you are, we are in touch ?? I hope we continue to cross paths!”
For the record, Viacom18 Media Pvt Ltd is a joint venture between TV18, which owns 51%, and ViacomCBS, with a 49% stake.
