Zomato, Carwale co-founders invest in Bhutia’s football schools

MUMBAI: Former Indian football captain Bhaichung Bhutia has secured major investments from the likes of ex-Zomato owner Pankaj Chaddha and Carwale co-founder Mohit Dubey for developing 100 more soccer training centres under Bhaichung Bhutia Football Schools (BBFS), Economic Times reports.

BBFS has set up 41 centres since its launch in 2010 across 15 cities and trained more than 10,000 students. It has a residential academy in Gurugram, which has 50 students who live on-campus and train there. The focus of this venture is player and coach development for which Bhutia is travelling often across the country to be hands on in the process.

Bharucha & Partners, the law firm led by Kaushik Moitra and Aditya Kumar Singh, negotiated the agreement on Bhutia’s behalf.

“I have been heavily invested in the Indian sports sector throughout my professional career. It is an area that is, at last, seeing the regulatory reform and consequent investment that already exists in the developed world, and I am excited for the future and certainty it promises to our sports-people and athletes,” Moitra was quoted as saying to ET.

“Bharucha & Partners’ grasp of our business practices and commitment to delivering the results we need has resulted in our placing absolute trust in their advice and services,” BBFS co-founder, Kishore Taid signed off.
