MUMBAI: The 10th edition of the Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation Marathon (VVMM) will be held on December 11, 2022 and online registrations for the same will open on Friday, September 9, it was announced by the Commissioner of the Vasai Virar City Municipal Corporation, Anil Kumar Pawar here, on Tuesday.
After a forced absence of two years, due to the pandemic, the Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation Marathon returns in a bigger and grander avatar.
“I am happy to announce the opening of registrations for the 10th edition of the National Level Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation Marathon, to be held on December 11, 2022. The 10th edition will see a substantial increase in the prize money on offer and the registration fees will remain unchanged,” Pawar said. “The event will continue to provide the best facilities to the participants, besides accommodation and food to all outstation participants,” the Commissioner added.
The Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation Marathon is one of the country’s few sporting events to offer highest prize money for Indian athletes, both elite and amateur, – exceeding Rs. 50 lakhs and attracts the cream of India’s elite long distance running talent. The event has been recognized as a National level sports event by the Athletic Federation of India (AFI) and the running course has been measured and ratified by Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS).
