MUMBAI: 14 of the 24 who bought the ITT are bidding for the IPL rights, auction for which has commenced in Mumbai this morning.
The 14 who have submitted bids are Jio, Airtel, Facebook, Perform DAZN, Yupp TV, BeIN, Times Internet, Star, Sony, Follow On Interactive, Supersport, Econet, OSN and US company Bamtech, an American internet video service provider in which the Walt Disney Company took a majority stake in August this year.
The significant absentees from the bids are Discovery, Twitter and Amazon.
As the process of opening of bid documents and announcement of the holder/s for the next five years of media rights to world cricket’s most prized property got underway in a south Mumbai five star today, Star India submitted its bid in a big box, with BCCI CEO Rahul Johri asking someone from Star to come ahead and open it.
