225 wrestlers in Pro Wrestling League 2019 draft

NEW DELHI: Asian Games gold medallists Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia will headline the list of 225 wrestlers who have been shortlisted for the Pro Wrestling League (PWL) 2019 players draft to be held in the city on Friday, Press Trust of India reports.

Rio Olympic bronze medallist Sakshi Malik and 2010 Summer Youth Olympics silver medalist Pooja Dhanda are two other top wrestlers who will be part of the draft. The teams met on Thursday to pick their choice of wrestlers from the draft and will have a strong pool to choose from including Olympic medallists, continental champions and world champions.

The league offers a prize purse of Rs 19 million for the winners and Rs 11 million for the runners-up.

A new team, MP Yodha will be seen in action this season alongside Delhi Sultans, UP Dangal, Haryana Hammers, Mumbai Maharathi and the NCR Punjab Royals.

The fourth edition of the wrestling league is scheduled to start from 14 January 14 and is set to be broadcast on Sony Pictures Networks India.

The Pro Wrestling League is a Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) backed tournament which is managed by Sporty Solutionz, the federation’s commercial partner.
