Rohit-backed CricKingdom to set up cricket academy in Cambodia

PHNOM PENH, Cambodia: CricKingdom has formally entered into an agreement with Praveen Jain, a leading Indian businessman and sports supporter operating in Cambodia, which will see the two sides working together to establish the Sout-East Asian nation’s first full-fledged cricket academy.

The partnership between CricKingdom and Jain was sealed by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on Tuesday, March 23, local media reported.

The deal was officially inked seven months after CricKingdom first offered to work with the Cricket Association of Cambodia (CAC) to promote and develop the game in the country.

“This is a major development not only for the federation but also for the sports sector in Cambodia. It is not often that we have such big name in cricket and sports offering and coming over here to help us,” Manish Sharma, CEO of CAC, said at that time.

This also comes a month after the CAC ‘activated’ its membership with the Asian Cricket Council.

CricKingdom, which lays claim to having operations in India, United States, Qatar, Germany, Indonesia and Canada, lists Singapore and the UAE as its main headquarters.

CricKindom is represented globally by some of the top names in the sport, including Indian cricket great Rohit Sharma.
