MUMBAI: British media have confirmed that Channel 4 has secured the UK rights for the live broadcast of the England’s tour of India that involves four Tests, five Twenty20s and three one-day internationals.
The Guardian reports that BCCI’s global media rights holder Star Sports has agreed terms to sublicense the UK territory rights to Channel 4 and that the broadcast will be available as a free-to-air service.
According to the UK daily, the deal represents a huge coup for Channel 4, which submitted their bid to Star Sports last week – one described as “compelling” by insiders.
As per The Guardian, the Star-Channel 4 deal has been agreed on a non-exclusive basis which allows for additional satellite and digital partners.
