MELBOURNE: Cricket Australia has announced the return of Vodafone as naming rights partner for Australian men’s Test cricket in a three-year deal. Concomittantly, the telecommunications major has also signed up as sponsors of the national women’s team and Women’s Big Bash League.
Vodafone previously sponsored men’s Test cricket from 2001 until the 2012-13 season (under their earlier brands Orange and 3), and will replace Domain, which pulled out in February midway through a four-year deal, ESPNcricinfo reports.
The Test sponsorship rights are the most eye-catching property that CA can offer sponsors, especially with India and England slated to tour during the next two summers, according to The Guardian.
The brand will also continue its association with the Adelaide Strikers across the BBL and WBBL.
“We all know how important the men’s Test summer is to Australian cricket, and we want to thank Vodafone for supporting these matches as our Test naming rights partner,” CA’s interim CEO Nick Hockley said.
