NEW DELHI: After the successful completion of the AHF Online Education Workshops exclusively for the Hockey India coaches and technical officials in July and August, the Asian Hockey Federation and HI organized an AHF Online Education Workshop exclusively for HI’s state member units.
The AHF conducted a workshop on Event Planning and Management on Tuesday, which helped the various candidates from the state member units to attain a much better understanding of the processes involved in hosting & management of hockey tournaments at the highest level.
Aimed at providing the nitty-gritty and knowledge on various aspects of planning and management of events, the online education workshop was conducted free of cost for participating candidates online through Microsoft Teams application. The workshop was conducted for a period of three-four hours.
HI requested each of the state member units to nominate one candidate for the workshop. A total of 31 candidates attended.
Speaking on the initiative, Gyanendro Ningombam, officiating president, Hockey India, said: “The Asian Hockey Federation has been a making tremendous effort to improve all aspects of hockey in Asia and we couldn’t be happier about the fact that they are continuing to work with us closely. The AHF Online Education Workshops has certainly helped our coaches and technical officials to gain more knowledge about their respective fields and therefore it was a fantastic opportunity for the candidates from the state member units to attain a better understanding of planning and management of events.”
Tayyab Ikram, chief executive, AHF and chairman FIH Development and Education Committee, also commented on the occasion, “The Event Planning, Event Delivery, Event Management and Event Legacy areas are now extremely advanced, and they must be dealt in a professional manner. If the events are properly planned and professionally delivered, they can prove to be extremely cost effective. Therefore, we are determined to provide help and insight to our stakeholders through such workshops.”
Tayyab, also leading the FIH and Tokyo team in the planning and delivery of Tokyo Olympic Games 2020 which will be held in 2021, further added, “I hope the AHF Online Education Workshop on Event Planning and Management definitely helps the candidates from Hockey India to understand the professional events delivery model and to improve their knowledge about planning and managing events.”
At the end of the AHF online education workshop, participating candidates received a participation certificate that will help them in the future FIH AHF Course Selection.
