TORINO: The International Federation of Sport Climbing, in accordance with USA Climbing and the Korean Alpine Federation, has cancelled the IFSC World Cup in Salt Lake City (USA) and the IFSC World Cup in Seoul (KOR).
The two competitions were originally scheduled to be part of the 2020 Boulder season, with the IFSC World Cup in Seoul set to take place from May 8 to 10, and the IFSC World Cup in Salt Lake City scheduled from June 12 to 14. Both competitions were also expected to host a Speed event.
The impact of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, along with the traveling restrictions that derive from it and the safety measures that are currently in place in many countries all over the world, forced the IFSC, USA Climbing and the Korean Alpine Federation to take the decision.
Sport Climbing will make its Olympic debut at Tokyo 2020, and it’s been provisionally included in the programme of Paris 2024. In 2018, two medal events in Sport Climbing were contested at the Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Olympic Games.
