INDIANAPOLIS: USA Track & Field announced Tuesday that Hershey’s was extending its long term partnership with USATF and will continue as the presenting sponsor of Run Jump Throw through 2024.
Beginning in 2015, USATF and Hershey’s teamed up to create Run Jump Throw (RJT), a hands-on learning program that gets children (ages 7-12) excited about physical activity by introducing them to the basic running, jumping and throwing skills through track and field. Since the program’s inception, RJT has reached over 850,000 children.
The RJT plan offers a selection of 20 learning stations for organizers to choose from, including dynamic warm-up, running form and technique, standing broad jump, softball throw and one-legged hop. Designed to be a turnkey curriculum that is easily adaptable for any group, Run Jump Throw is a noncompetitive program that can be conducted as a field day event lasting 2-4 hours, or as a six-week program.
“Hershey’s support has been instrumental in teaching children the basics and importance of exercise while growing the sport of track and field at a young age,” said USATF CEO Max Siegel. “We are thrilled to see the success of Run Jump Throw since 2015 and are excited to continue growing the program.”
Children participating in Run Jump Throw are encouraged to continue to pursue the sport, either through parks and recreation programs, school programs or through USATF clubs and associations. The program is part of Hershey’s global sustainability efforts celebrating moments of goodness.
