LYON: Europe’s football governing body UEFA has issued a tender for a new anti-piracy service provider.
The move comes in the wake of an investigation into Saudi-operated pirate operation BeoutQ from the World Trade Organisation.
While issuing its “Internet Piracy – Request for Proposals (RFP)”, UEFA declared it “takes the protection of its intellectual property rights, as well as the interests of its media partners, very seriously”.
UEFA is looking to appoint one or more service providers to provide:
• certain specific Internet Piracy monitoring and enforcement services in respect of both live and non-live Internet Piracy; and/or
• proposals in respect of the provision of expertise and services which are ancillary to the “core” services mentioned in the bullet above,
The above mentioned is with a view (in both cases) to achieving UEFA’s key objective, namely, the minimisation of Internet Piracy in respect of certain UEFA club and national team competitions (and other UEFA audiovisual content). A list of such competitions is set out in Schedule 1 of the RFP.
Interested parties wishing to participate in the RFP process should send their proposals no later than 12:00 CET on 4 September 2020 to [email protected] with the subject heading “Internet Piracy RFP – Proposal – [plus name of Bidder]”. Any query/clarification should be submitted to [email protected] with the subject heading “Internet Piracy RFP – Query – [plus name of Bidder]”. Bidders should, however, note that queries received less than three (3) business days before the closing date may not receive a response from UEFA.
