SINGAPORE: After nearly four months away from the Circle, ONE Championship will resume its flagship event schedule on Friday, 31 July.
ONE Championship chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong announced the news on his official Facebook page.
The next event – ONE: NO SURRENDER – will be held in Bangkok, Thailand, and mark the promotion’s full return to action after COVID-19 brought the world to a standstill in March.
ONE: NO SURRENDER will be held at a closed-door, audience-free venue and will be broadcast live all over the globe.
“I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to our superstar team at ONE Championship for everything,” Sityodtong wrote in his Facebook post.
“The world is suffering from the worst global crisis in a hundred years. Most national borders remain closed across Asia. With zero visibility and weekly COVID-19 policy changes in every country, it has been impossible to plan anything. Thank you to the greatest team in the world for your heart and hustle. #gratitude #WeAreONE.”
The news that ONE’s flagship event schedule will resume comes a week after the promotion successfully tested the waters with ONE Hero Series 13 and 14 in Shanghai, China.
Sityodtong also teased the newly-launched ONE Dark Series, which will feature prerecorded events and air on broadcast partners around the world.
Full statement from Sityodtong:
“After a successful ONE Hero Series 13 and 14 in China last weekend, ONE Championship will now kick off our flagship event schedule with ONE: No Surrender on July 31 in Thailand! ONE: No Surrender will be a closed-door, audience-free stadium event for live global broadcast. We will also be holding 12 extra fights on that day for the newly-launched ONE Dark Series, a taped first-air product for our broadcast partners and fans around the world.
