Himanshu Mody joins Times Group as corporate director: Report

MUMBAI: Media conglomerate Bennett Coleman & Co. Ltd (Times Group) has appointed Himanshu Mody, former Essel Group head of Finance & Strategy, as Group corporate director, Television Post reports.

In his new role Mody will be responsible for capital allocation & fund management. He will also be tasked with providing oversight to shareholders on matters of corporate governance, legal & tax efficiencies and related financial aspects of existing & new businesses, besides overseeing legal & structural requirement of investments & Trust.

As Group corporate director for BCCL, Mody will be responsible for capital allocation & fund management. He will also provide oversight to shareholders on matters of corporate governance, legal & tax efficiencies and related financial aspects of existing & new businesses, besides overseeing legal & structural requirement of investments & Trusts.

The appointment was announced by BCCL vice-chairman Samir Jain and MD Vineet Jain, the media website reports.

Mody had stepped down as head of Finance & Strategy at Essel Group in November last year. At Essel, he was heading the group finance & strategy for its businesses in Media & Entertainment, News & Information, Education, Infrastructure, Gaming, Wellness, and Lifestyle.

With over two decades of experience, Mody is also credited with driving Zee Group’s venture into the sports industry with India’s first private cricket league – the short lived Indian Cricket League (ICL). Mody was also involved in the acquisition of Ten Sports in 2006 and its subsequent sale to Sony Pictures Networks in 2016 for Rs 26 billion ($385 million).
