MUMBAI: The upcoming Premier Badminton League has lost one of its big draws after 29-year-old shuttler announced via twitter on Sunday that she needs to recover after a difficult year that has seen her hampered by a series of injuries as well as illness.
The fifth edition of the PBL is scheduled to start next month.
“Hey everyone , I won’t be part of the PBL Season 5 . I haven’t been well most part of the year due to pancreatitis and injuries and I would like to take time during the PBL to prepare better . I want to say sorry to all my fans and I hope to be part of the next season of PBL .,” Saina posted on her official twitter handle.
Not only was India’s second biggest badminton name had a year blighted by injuries, but she also suffered a bout of acute gastroenteritis coupled with mild pancreatitis which also left her hors de combat for some time.
Saina is now hoping that a break over the December-January period will help her recuperate for 2020, the year of the Olympics in Tokyo.
