LONDON: Perform Group, one of the world’s largest sports media companies, has announced the formation of the world’s first international social media platform dedicated solely to football in collaboration with France’s TooGoal, which was launched in January.
Too Goal and Perform Content aim to create a social network on which football lovers of all kind, from supporters and journalists to players, clubs and executives can interact by posting, sharing and reacting to messages.
Perform’s data analytics arm, Opta will be powering the new platform, through detailed data, supplied through its API and their data editorial service will provide insightful content informed by its extensive live and historic database. Opta works with 800 sports clients across the globe and gained fame last year for forming an official Data Centre with the LaLiga.
TooGoal will be publishing exclusive content such as podcasts and articles as well as live scores, fixtures, results and standings. For this innovative project, a team of expert journalists and advisors with over 25 years of experience has been put together to bring to life and develop the new mobile application.
TooGoal chief editor Philippe Auclair commented on the development: “At TooGoal, we want to create a meeting point between the serious analysis and the fun side of football. Our podcast aims to bring a platform which will allow football stats to have a voice and also bring a free and unifying spirit, much like football and the brand TooGoal.
“Therefore, it’s only natural that we decided to work with Opta because a complicity already existed and we count on working with experts from a worldwide reference [in the market].
“Lastly, this collaboration with Opta, the world’s leading provider of live, detailed sports data, will allow us to further develop the digital content provided by TooGoal in the near future with an access to articles from Goal, the world’s largest digital football community.”
