NEW DELHI: Oppo, the leading Chinese smartphone brand, has partnered with Tencent Games and PUBG Corp for the ‘Oppo PUBG MOBILE India Series 2019’, the first official open-to-all tournament hosted in India.
For the tournament, Oppo has sponsored a prize-pool of Rs 10 million, including cash and latest smartphones.
The tournament is open to those Indian residents who possess a PUBG Mobile account above level 20 while it will be a squad-only tournament with more diverse battlefields for the players. Squads will engage in intense battles in different maps, with Erangel (the original PUBG MOBILE map) being one of them.
Previously in October 2018, Oppo had sponsored India’s biggest eSports Championship called ‘Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds MOBILE Campus Championship 2018’ with a prize pool of Rs. 5 million. Held in Bengaluru, Mumbai’s ‘The Terrifying Nightmares’ won the competition, taking home Rs 1.5 million.
The championship saw over 250,000 registrations over the span of three weeks from 1000+ colleges spread across 30 cities and was experienced via Oppo’s recently launched product Oppo F9 Pro. Packed with powerful features, the F9 Pro took the PUBG MOBILE gaming experience to the next level.

The tournament will unravel in four phases with the registrations beginning from 9 January and ending on 23 January. The in-game qualifier will be held from 21-28 January. Followed by which, 2000 selected squads or teams will battle it out in the online playoffs stage from 9-24 February. 20 teams out of these will play in the Grand Finals on 10 March.
There are several individual awards in the grand finals set to be won such as:
MVP Award – Awarded to the player with maximum number of MVP
The Exterminators – Awarded to the team with maximum kills
The Healers – Awarded to the team with the highest number of revives
The Redeemer – Awarded to the player with highest amount of health restored
The Lone Ranger – Awarded to the player with the maximum survival time
The Rampage Freak – Awarded to the player for the maximum number of kills in one game.
