SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) is making rapid strides in developing a sporting culture as it will be getting an international football stadium in 2019 for the first time ever which will be constructed as per FIFA norms, ANI reports.
The National Projects Construction Corporation (NPCC), which will be accountable for the construction of the ground, has set the budget of the project at Rs. 500 million and will have a capacity of 18,000 people.
It will be capable of hosting matches between countries and clubs of the world according to the assistant project manager Arshid Hussain. He also said that the aim of the project is to provide the state’s footballers with international facilities and coaches to grow their talent.
“The stadium is being constructed according to the FIFA norms. We have kept six amenity blocks which will have food courts and toilets. We are building a new pavilion to increase the space. This will include a commentary box, VVIP box and dressing halls. The ground will get a synthetic turf and there will be four floodlights,” Hussain was quoted as saying to ANI.
The main road of the stadium will be widened by nine meters for parking facilities and the ground will be provided with irrigation and drainage system. Moreover, new electrical equipment will be installed in the stadium.
