VANCOUVER, British Columbia: English Premier League side Leicester City FC has announced a new partnership with Ethereum-based sports betting platform FansUnite.
The announcement comes in the wake of news earlier this week that Leicester City, along with 6 other Premiership clubs, has opened a Bitcoin wallet on online trading platform eToro.
As the official blockchain sports data partner of Leicester City, the Vancouver-based blockchain protocol will work in conjunction with the club to launch promotions in and around King Power Stadium, in addition to a series of promotions across England.
Throughout the year, at both home and away games, there will be player meet-and-greets, contests, surprise giveaways and opportunities for LCFC fans to win experiences. As an added bonus, there will be special engagements for all football fans on the FansUnite platform.
“We are proud to welcome FansUnite into our family of partners. They share our belief in the power of football to bring supporters together whether that is at King Power Stadium or around the world,” said Jonathan Gregory, Leicester City’s commercial director. “FansUnite is an innovative brand looking to bring transparency and collaboration to their industry and we are delighted to be part of this journey.”
“Leicester City FC is one of the premier brands in all of football, being one of just six clubs to hoist the Premier League Trophy since its inception in 1992. They are at the forefront of incorporating new technology to help improve player performance and fan engagement,” said FansUnite CEO Darius Eghdami. “Partnering with a globally recognized brand that shares our commitment to improving conditions for sports fans through the application of new technology was a natural fit.”
FansUnite’s sports betting protocol will be launching in late 2018, with operators across the globe able to offer bettors lower fees and an increased opportunity to profit for individuals, a company release claims.
After their Series A financing of $4.45M CAD, FansUnite has been developing the protocol in preparation for their regulatory compliant token launch later this year.
In addition to the sportsbook offering, the FansUnite Protocol serves as the blockchain-based infrastructure for sports data applications, daily fantasy sports and a variety of other applications reliant on sports data.
