Swiggy’s latest ad campaign all about cricket, food

NEW DELHI: Food delivery App Swiggy has come up with as many as six television commercials this IPL season built around cricket and food. 

The multi-lingual campaign has been created by ad agency Lowe Lintas. The company hired the services of veteran cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle and former cricketer Aakash Chopra as the voices in the commercials. 

Srivats TS, VP marketing at Swiggy spoke on the thought behind the commercial: “The IPL-themed advertisements are fun and intriguing to watch as they explore relatable scenarios that have made Swiggy a household name today. Whether it’s a married couple or a full-fledged party watching the big matches, the idea is to showcase Swiggy’s role in changing the way India eats, by bringing out the brand benefits in a likeable and engaging manner while delivering a full entertainment experience to millions of people and fans.”

Swiggy resembles the festivities of the IPL season each year. Whenever a customer gets hungry with the smallest of pangs, it delivers at T20 style fast speeds. The TVCs have a simple storyline with the execution of the comic expressions of the characters being spot on. The subtle yet smart interweaving of the spirit and sounds of cricket with minimal dialogues, make the commercial intriguing to watch. 

“Cricketing jargon has always been part of the popular lingo in India. What we’ve tried to do with this campaign is to present the brand’s benefits in a fun, light-hearted, everyday context with cricket commentary delightfully punctuating the life situations,” said Arun Iyer, chairman & CCO, Lowe Lintas.
