NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court has set June 30 as the date by which the court-appointed administrator has to convene the annual general body meeting of the faction-riven and scam tainted Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) and hold elections for its managing committee.
A Bench of justices S Ravindra Bhat and AK Chawla said the results of the polls should be announced immediately thereafter, PTI reports.
The directions by the Bench came on an application moved by the administrator, former Supreme Court judge Vikramajit Sen, seeking time till July 15 to hold the elections, for which the court had earlier given eight weeks’ time from March 23, the newswire reports.
In the application, filed through advocate Pradeep Chhindra, the administrator sought the additional time in view of the ongoing IPL season and other infrastructure-related work that the DDCA has to carry out.
The DDCA is yet to obtain a final structural stability certificate for its Feroz Shah Kotla stadium’s old club house, also known as RP Mehra block.
The administrator had on April 13 moved a separate application in the High Court seeking interim permission to set up broadcasting equipment in the old club house for the Delhi Daredevil’s IPL matches to be held at the stadium.
However, the court had declined to pass any orders till it heard the South Delhi Municipal Corporation which is to certify the block as structurally stable.
The matter related to old club house of the stadium will be heard next by the court on April 18, PTI further reports.
