MUMBAI: Star Sports will benefit from the re-scheduling of the upcoming women’s T20 tri-series featuring India, Australia and England.
The seven matches in the series will now be played from March 22 – 31 at the Brabourne stadium in Mumbai, while the original schedule went on till April 3.
Since the media rights contract of Star Sports ends on March 31, the new rights holder would have had to take over the last couple of matches in the series.
A report in The Hindu, quoting a BCCI official, states Star would telecast the three-match ODI series against Australia as well as the tri-series. The ODI series is scheduled to be played in Vadodara on March 12, 15 and 18.
The BCCI has invited bids for the media rights (global television rights plus digital rights package, Indian sub-continent digital package and global consolidated rights package) for the next five years.
The new media rights holder will telecast the three ODI matches against England to be played in Nagpur on April 6, 9 and 12.
