MUMBAI: The Indian Premier League (IPL) is reportedly considering instituting a football like midseason transfer of players for uncapped players.
IPL governing council chairman Rajeev Shukla told Mid-Day, “Yes, this time the IPL will see mid-season transfers.”
This window would only be open for uncapped players and those who have played no more than two matches till the halfway stage of the tournament. The tabloid further reports that there will be a five-day window when franchises will can avail of mid-season transfers. “The transfer will take place in between Match No. 28 to 42 and the transfer window will be open for roughly five days. The transfer will take place only if there is a demand for that particular player from another franchise,” a BCCI official told Mid-Day.
Many details remain to be fleshed out on the midseason transfer however, especially relating to the fee to be paid to the player/franchise.
