BCCI protests Pakistan hosting Asian Emerging Nations Cup 2018

NEW DELHI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has objected to the Asian Cricket Council’s decision to allow Pakistan to host the next Asian Emerging Nations Cup cricket in April next year.

The Times of India reports that Pakistan was given the hosting rights for the six-nation tournament at an ACC meeting in Lahore on 29 October. While BCCI representatives did not attend the meeting, the BCCI has taken strong objection to the decision and has communicated the same at the recently-held ACC meeting in Dubai.

India is supposed to participate in the event, and the BCCI is miffed that was not consulted before the final decision was taken, says the report.

International cricket in Pakistan has come to a standstill after the terror attack on the Sri Lankan team bus in Lahore during the 2009 tour. This year, Lanka sent a team to Pakistan, signalling the revival of international cricket in Pakistan, and has also expressed its willingness to to send its national team and under-19 sides to Pakistan.
