MUMBAI: The Committee of Administrators (CoA) has given the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) the go-ahead to hold its special general meeting at which three main points will be on the agenda: settlement of dues owed to erstwhile IPL franchise Kochi Tuskers Kerala, re-affiliation for Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) and approval of the International Cricket Council’s new Future Tours Programme (FTP) for 2019 to 2023.
While issuing its directive, the CoA has made clear that only office-bearers of state associations will be permitted to attend the SGM. The CoA members and BCCI CEO Rahul Johri, along with his staff, will also be attending, Hindustan Times reports.
The CoA has asked BCCI acting president CK Khanna to call an SGM by November 16 so that the meeting could be held in another 21 days, Times of India reports.
On the matter of RCA’s affiliation, the board is due to appear before the Rajasthan High Court to explain the status of RCA at a hearing later this month, reports say.
Of immediate importance is the Kochi settlement matter, Mumbai Mirror reports. The IPL governing ouncil agreed to settle the long-pending issue with the Kochi Tuskers team owners for Rs 8.2 billion but the BCCI general body has to clear the payment.
As for the RCA, the association was suspended by the BCCI in May 2014 when former IPL commissioner Lalit Modi was re-elected as its president. Elections were held again under the supervision of the High Court and Congress leader CP Joshi was declared the president in June this year, defeating Modi’s son Ruchir, paving the way for revocation of RCA’s suspension.
