The FIM, IRTA and MotoGP commercial rights holders Dorna Sports on Wednesday confirmed that the Indian Grand Prix second edition will now return to the country in “early 2025”.
“Following advice from the government of Uttar Pradesh as the state continues its long-term commitment to MotoGP, the sport will return to Buddh International Circuit in March 2025, when weather conditions are expected to be optimal for spectators and riders alike,” it was officially announced Wednesday.
The announcement confirms what Indian Grand Prix co-promoters Fairstreet Sports had declared on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, in a related development, the inaugural Kazakhstan GP will now take place from the 20th to the 22nd of September as the first race on the Asian leg of the 2024 MotoGP calendar.
Flooding across the region had caused the event to be postponed from June.
It is pertinent to note that these were the dates earlier assigned for the second edition of the India round of the MotoGP calendar.
Reports claiming that Fairstreet Sports had not cleared all their dues with Dorna after the inaugural round last year had led to months of uncertainty over the second edition of MotoGP Bharat, which was originally scheduled from September 20-22.
