CHICAGO RAIDERS clinched the title in the debut edition of the Mayor’s New World T20 2025, defeating the Florida Hurricanes by four wickets in a thrilling final.
The Raiders completed the tournament unbeaten and chased down a target of 180 in 19.1 overs. Kennar Lewis delivered a standout performance, smashing 57 off just 21 balls. He dominated the powerplay, preventing the Hurricanes’ bowlers from finding any rhythm, and launched five sixes to set the tone for the chase. Daniel Williams added valuable momentum with a quickfire 27 from 16 deliveries.
Aakarshit Gomel later anchored the innings, finishing on an unbeaten 35 off 23 balls and striking the winning runs to secure the trophy for Chicago. Four Hurricanes bowlers claimed a wicket each but were unable to halt the Raiders’ charge.
In the first innings, the Hurricanes posted 180 after a slightly tricky start, with the pitch keeping low in the early overs. Opener Ian Dev Singh showed composure and technical skill, scoring 56 off 39 despite losing his partner in the powerplay. Veteran Dinesh Ramdin, promoted to No. 3, contributed a steady 45 from 32 deliveries, while Damion Joachim added a well-crafted 31.US
