INDIA have won the inaugural Blind Women’s T20 World Cup in Sri Lanka, defeating Nepal by seven wickets in the final. Played at the P Sara Oval in Colombo, India restricted Nepal to 114/5 before cruising past the target in 12.1 overs with only three wickets down.
Phula Saren produced a match-winning innings of 44 from just 27 balls, sealing India’s unbeaten run in the tournament. The victory adds to the country’s growing momentum in women’s cricket across formats.
On their way to the title, India beat Sri Lanka, Australia, Nepal, USA, and Pakistan in the league stage, followed by another win over Australia in the semi-final. The World Cup, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, began on 11 November and travelled across New Delhi, Bengaluru, and Colombo.
Blind cricket features 11 players per side and uses a white plastic ball filled with ball bearings, enabling players to track its movement through sound.
Pakistan’s Mehreen Ali emerged as one of the standout performers in the competition, amassing more than 600 runs, including a 78-ball 230 against Sri Lanka and 133 against Australia.
