SOUTH AFRICA women’s national cricket team will host India women’s national cricket team in a five-match T20 International (T20I) series from 17 to 27 April, with matches scheduled in Durban, Johannesburg and Benoni. Tickets for the fixtures have now been made available.
The series will serve as key preparation for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in England, set to take place from 12 June to 5 July. It will also mark the first meeting between the two teams since the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup final in India last year, where India secured the 50-over title.
The opening two T20Is will be played at Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Stadium in Durban on 17 and 19 April. The series will then move to Gauteng, where the next two matches will be held at DP World Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg on 22 and 25 April. The tour will conclude with the fifth and final T20I at Willowmoore Park in Benoni on 27 April.
Proteas captain Laura Wolvaardt said, “This is a very exciting series to have as our last big assignment before the T20 World Cup; taking on India in our backyard, particularly after last playing each other in the World Cup final last year. We are also in the same group as them for this year’s T20 World Cup, so we will take a lot from these five matches. What I look forward to the most about this tour is getting another opportunity to play in front of our people. The support the team has been getting throughout the summer has been incredible, so I cannot wait to see what the turnout will be when we close off with a five-match series against India. I urge all supporters to go out and buy their tickets, and we will go out there and do our best to make you proud.”
