EAST BENGAL secured the SAFF Women’s Club Championship 2025 title with a commanding 3–0 victory over Nepal’s APF (Armed Police Forces) in the final at Dasharath Stadium, Kathmandu, on Saturday.
The tournament marked the inaugural edition of the SAFF Women’s Club Championship and brought together leading teams from across South Asia, with all matches staged in Kathmandu. East Bengal enjoyed a flawless campaign, remaining unbeaten throughout the competition with four wins and one draw, and notably did not concede a single goal across their five matches. Coached by Anthony Andrews, the Kolkata-based side also topped the five-team group stage standings.
After a cautious opening in the final, East Bengal gradually asserted control. Ikwaput opened the scoring midway through the first half, before Shilky Devi doubled the advantage with a header to give her side a 2–0 lead at the interval. Tournament top scorer Ikwaput then added her ninth goal of the competition shortly after the restart to put the result beyond doubt.
East Bengal will now shift focus to their domestic campaign as they begin the defence of their Indian Women’s League crown against Sethu FC in their opening match of the 2025–26 season on 24 December in Kalyani.
