FLOYD MAYWEATHER JR. and Manny Pacquiao are set to renew their rivalry in a professional boxing rematch on 19 September at the Sphere in Las Vegas. The bout will be streamed worldwide on Netflix.
The announcement follows Mayweather’s recent confirmation that he intends to return to professional competition after his 2026 exhibition against Mike Tyson. He has also entered into a multi-fight partnership with CSI Sports and Fight Sports.
Pacquiao likewise ended his retirement last July, when he fought then-WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios to a majority draw. He is also scheduled to take part in an exhibition bout against Ruslan Provodnikov on 18 April at the Thomas & Mack Center. Details regarding the weight division and the number of rounds for the September rematch have yet to be confirmed.
The contest will be produced by EverWonder Studio, Hidden Empire and Limitless X Holdings. Promotional duties will be handled by Manny Pacquiao Promotions and Mayweather Promotions in partnership with CSI Sports and Fight Sports.
Their original meeting on 2 May 2015 saw Mayweather secure a unanimous decision victory in one of the most commercially successful fights in boxing history. The bout generated 4.6 million pay-per-view purchases in the United States and more than $410 million in revenue, while gate receipts reached a record-breaking $72.2 million.
Although the rematch will not compete in the traditional pay-per-view market, its distribution via Netflix will make it accessible to more than 325 million subscribers globally. The platform’s first major boxing venture, the 2024 showdown between Jake Paul and Tyson, attracted 108 million live viewers worldwide.
The September event will also mark the first professional boxing match staged at the Sphere. The venue previously hosted a Ultimate Fighting Championship event in 2024, with reported production costs exceeding $20 million at the $2.3 billion arena.
