AIFF offers free non-exclusive Prasar Bharati feeds to IFL clubs

ALL INDIA FOOTBALL FEDERATION (AIFF) has offered Indian Football League (IFL) clubs access to Prasar Bharati feeds for regional broadcast and streaming during the upcoming season on a non-exclusive basis and without any access fee.

In addition to providing the feeds, the AIFF has waived sub-licensing charges for the upcoming IFL campaign, the rebranded version of the I-League and the second tier of men’s football in India. The feeds, however, will be made available at a location designated by Prasar Bharati.

Revenue generated through broadcast or streaming arrangements will be shared in a 60:40 ratio, with 60 per cent retained by the respective clubs and 40 per cent allocated to the IFL central revenue pool, subject to mutually agreed payment terms.

In a letter circulated to clubs on Wednesday, the AIFF clarified that any onward transmission from the pre-determined feed location to a broadcaster’s or streaming platform’s preferred destination would be undertaken entirely at the club’s own expense.

The move marks another step towards increasing operational autonomy for IFL clubs. The league is already overseen by a governing council comprising nine club representatives and a managing committee featuring five club members, largely drawn from participating teams.

The waiver stands in contrast to the top-tier Indian Super League (ISL) current season, where broadcast and streaming rights were secured by FanCode for Rs 8.62 crore.

The federation has requested clubs to formally confirm their interest by submitting:
* A brief explanation outlining the purpose of seeking access
* Documentary evidence of any agreements with third parties for broadcast and/or streaming of IFL matches
* A list of fixtures intended for broadcast and/or streaming

The IFL season is scheduled to commence on 27 February, with Namdhari FC set to face Aizawl FC in the opening fixture. The campaign will feature 10 teams, including newly promoted Diamond Harbour FC and Chanmari FC.
