BCCI announces ₹131cr reward for India’s T20 WC triumph

BOARD OF CONTROL FOR CRICKET IN INDIA (BCCI) has announced a cash reward of ₹131 crore ($14.2 million) for India national cricket team following their victorious campaign at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

Per The Hindu, each of the 15 players in the squad will receive ₹6cr, while the remaining ₹41cr will be distributed among the coaching staff and other support staff members.

India clinched the title after defeating New Zealand national cricket team in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, successfully defending the crown and becoming the first team in the tournament’s history to retain the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

The victory also marked a historic milestone, as India became the first side to win the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup three times, further strengthening their status as one of the most dominant teams in the format.

The ₹131cr payout is the largest financial reward ever announced in Indian cricket. It surpasses the ₹125cr bonus awarded to the team led by Rohit Sharma after their previous T20 World Cup triumph in Barbados two years ago.

For comparison, India’s squad that won the ICC Champions Trophy received ₹58cr, while the title-winning team at the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup last year was awarded ₹51cr.
