IBA partners GBS for professional fight night in Navi Mumbai

THE INTERNATIONAL BOXING ASSOCIATION (IBA) is strengthening its push into emerging boxing markets by partnering with the Global Boxing Series (GBS) for a professional fight night in Navi Mumbai, scheduled for April 26, 2026.

The event, to be held at Nexus Seawoods, marks a significant milestone in India’s evolving professional boxing ecosystem, combining international competition, high-production entertainment, and grassroots development objectives. The event is designed as a one-night, high-intensity fight spectacle, transforming a commercial venue into a world-class boxing arena.

Organised in collaboration with GBS, the event will showcase a dynamic mix of international and domestic talent, providing a global platform for both rising prospects and established fighters. The fight night will be headlined by a bout between the United Kingdom’s Callum Dan and India’s Suresh Pasham, alongside the boxing debut of Muay Thai standout Ashish Sethi against Sanjay Raj, a media release said.

The card will also feature a strong lineup of Indian professional and amateur boxers, including a women’s division headlined by Gazal Maria vs Anamika Yadav and Maithreyi vs Shwetha, reflecting IBA’s ongoing commitment to inclusivity and talent development across all levels of the sport.

Six-time world champion Mary Kom will attend as guest of honour, the release said.

IBA views the Global Boxing Series as a key vehicle for strengthening professional pathways in emerging markets, combining elite-level competition with modern sports entertainment formats. The fight night will feature both professional and emerging amateur talent, reflecting a hybrid model aimed at talent development and entertainment.

The collaboration is part of IBA’s broader strategy to expand professional boxing in emerging markets, build professional pathways for Indian boxers, bridge the gap between amateur success and pro careers, and offer exposure to international opponents and audiences. IBA views India as a high-growth market for boxing, with strong grassroots participation and increasing commercial potential.
