Himachal gets multipurpose sports stadium in Shimla

IN A MAJOR BOOST to sports infrastructure in Himachal Pradesh, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu inaugurated a newly-developed multipurpose sports stadium in Shimla, describing the facility as a significant step toward nurturing young sporting talent and strengthening the state’s sports ecosystem.

The stadium, designed to host multiple sporting disciplines, is expected to serve athletes from across Himachal Pradesh and provide modern training and competition facilities for aspiring sportspersons. The project forms part of the state government’s broader effort to expand sports infrastructure and promote grassroots athletic development.

The newly inaugurated stadium, with a construction cost of Rs 3.18 crore, has been equipped to accommodate a variety of sporting activities, allowing athletes to train and compete in a professional environment. Officials said the facility has been designed to support both recreational and competitive sports while serving as a venue for district- and state-level tournaments.
