FORMER INDIA CAPTAIN Mahendra Singh Dhoni has invested in residential rooftop solar company SolarSquare through his family office, Midas Deals, as part of the company’s recently announced US$53 million (approximately ₹455 crore) Series C funding round.
Alongside the strategic investment, Dhoni has also been appointed as the company’s brand ambassador, reinforcing its ambitions to accelerate the adoption of rooftop solar solutions across India.
The Series C funding round was led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, with participation from existing investors including Elevation Capital and Lowercarbon Capital. Dhoni’s investment through Midas Deals marks a significant endorsement from one of India’s most influential sporting personalities and adds further credibility to SolarSquare’s long-term growth strategy.
SolarSquare specialises in residential rooftop solar installations. The Mumbai-based company offers end-to-end services, including system design, financing, installation and maintenance, and has emerged as one of India’s leading residential solar providers. The company currently operates across several major Indian cities and aims to expand its footprint significantly in the coming years.
According to the company, the fresh capital will be used to strengthen SolarSquare’s technology platform, expand its operations into new markets, enhance customer experience and accelerate the adoption of rooftop solar systems among Indian households. The company also plans to invest in product innovation and increase awareness about the economic and environmental benefits of residential solar energy.
