AXIS BANK and the Inspire Institute of Sport have announced that four women judokas from the Axis Bank Judo Development Programme have qualified for the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow: Yamini Mourya (57kg), Unnati Sharma (63kg), Ishroop Narang (78kg), and Takhellambam Inunganbi (70kg).
The programme has supported over 500 athletes across grassroots and high-performance pathways, including 471 young judokas and 53 elite female athletes in Manipur. Athletes under the programme have won more than 140 medals across state, national, and international competitions and have benefited from 11 international training camps in Japan, Georgia, and Uzbekistan. The programme also contributed to Linthoi Chanambam winning bronze at the 2025 World Junior Championships in Peru, making her India’s first-ever World Junior Championship medallist in judo, a media release said.
The initiative combines coaching with sports science, nutrition, strength and conditioning, mental wellbeing support, education assistance, and competition exposure, with grassroots work in Manipur conducted in partnership with the Manipur Judo Association and mentorship from Olympian Sushila Devi. The programme aims to expand its grassroots footprint in the North-East, support athletes on the international stage, and strengthen India’s judo ecosystem.
