NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court has stayed the termination of Shaji Prabhakaran as the Secretary General of the All India Football Federation (AIFF).
Shaji Prabhakaran had taken the matter to the high court, asserting that his removal by AIFF president Kalyan Chaubey was illegitimate and that only the executive committee had the authority to terminate his services, IANS reports.
During hearing of the case on Friday, Justice Subramonium Prasad put a stay on Prabhakaran’s termination.
Chaubey had cited “trust deficit” while terminating Prabhakaran’s services, effective November 7. The decision was ratified by the AIFF executive committee on November 9.
Following Prabhakaran’s summary dismissal, the AIFF had named AIFF deputy secretary M Satyanarayan as the acting secretary general until a permanent replacement was put in place.
