PCB slots Feb-Mar window for PSL 2024; ‘no’ to new teams

The Pakistan Super League governing council has tentatively scheduled the ninth edition of the PSL to be held between February 8 and March 24 next year. 

However, the final schedule of the tournament will be confirmed in the next meeting of the governing council, the Pakistan Cricket Board has declared.

The PSL governing council, which convened at Lahore’s National Cricket Academy on Monday, also confirmed that no new teams will added in the next edition of the league and that PSL 9 will be played with six teams as has been the case thus far.

Key outcomes of the meeting:
*The upcoming ninth season will be played with six teams. No additional team will be added in the upcoming season. 
*For the promotion and support of women’s cricket, the PCB will continue to explore opportunities for women’s league or exhibition matches during HBL PSL. 
*The window for the upcoming season is decided between 8 February to 24 March 2024. A final schedule will be confirmed in the next meeting.
*The PCB will continue to work closely with the franchises to explore alternative venues as a part of contingency planning.
*A detailed discussion with respect to the organisation of the HBL PSL 9 including the digital, media rights and other commercial assets tender process took place.
*A report of the previous edition of HBL PSL was presented in the meeting and the franchisees’ representatives were briefed on the success of the eighth edition.
