The opening ceremony of the upcoming men’s Cricket World Cup is scheduled to unfold in Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium on October 4.
The opening clash between England and New Zealand will take place the following day.
The final showdown on November 19 will also be held at the same venue.
Members of the International Cricket Council (ICC), the executive board of the global cricket governing body, and representatives of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will be present during the inauguration ceremony.
The ICC is reportedly orchestrating a formal briefing session for the captains, aptly named ‘Captains Day’, ahead of the opening day ceremonies.
The eve of the inauguration ceremony will reportedly see six of the ten competing teams engage in warm-up matches. In these matchups, India is set to play The Netherlands, Australia will clash with Pakistan, and Sri Lanka will test their mettle against Afghanistan.
As anticipation mounts, the captains are expected to arrive in Ahmedabad on the morning of October 4, creating the perfect setup for a photo-op later in the evening.
