MUMBAI: Disney Star, the official television broadcaster of IPL 2023, clocked a total of 8.7 billion minutes of consumption on TV for the opening match, a 47% growth in comparison to last year, the network asserted, quoting BARC 2+ (Urban+Rural) data.
The broadcaster further said that its rating grew by 29% as per the BARC, Male 15+AB (Urban) data.
As per the network, 140 million viewers tuned in for the live broadcast on the opening day, which included the opening ceremony, with 130 million watching the first match that saw title holders Gujarat Titans overcome Chennai Super Kings.
Star Sports is broadcasting IPL in nine languages.
